HMS Lightning (1755) (3rd)

This the third ship to carry the name HMS Lightning was an
8-gun, fireship. Originally HMS Viper, a 14-gun, sloop, built by Durrell of Poole, launched 11-Jun-1746, 91ft long, 26ft wide and of 270 tons builders measurement. Converted to a fireship with 8 x 4pdr guns, and renamed HMS Lightning, 29-Jul-1755. Sold 30-Dec-1762. Won the Battle Honour: Louisburg 1758.
