HMS Gurkha (1941) DD  (4th)

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Gurkha was an L Class, destroyer.

Built by Cammell Laird, laid down 18-Oct-1938, launched 08-Jul-1940, and commissioned 18-Feb-1941.

On commissioning served in home waters.

Mid-1941 went to the Mediterranean and formed the 19th Destroyer Flotilla with the other L Class ships.

Torpedoed and sunk 17-Jan-1942 by U-133 in the Eastern Mediterranean north of Sollum.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1941, Mediterranean 1941 and Malta Convoys 1941-42.
