HMS Griffin (1656) (1st)

This the first ship to carry the name HMS Griffin was a 12-gun,
ship. May have originally been Royalist or Dutch ship, captured 1665 by the Parliamentarians at Ostend.60ft long, 19ft 6in wide and of 121 tons builders measurement. Served with Blake's fleet off Cadiz 1656. Foundered 1664 off Jamaica.
