HMS Grenville (1936) DD  (3rd)

    
This the third ship to carry the name HMS Grenville was the name ship of a Class of two destroyer leaders, and the destroyer leader of the G Class (1936) DD, destroyers.

Built by Yarrow, laid down 29-Sep-1934, launched 15-Aug-1935, commissioned 01-Jul-1936.

After commissioning served in the Mediterranean as destroyer leader of the 20th Destroyer Flotilla.

Struck a mine 19-Jan-1940 in the Thames Estuary and sank. (The mines had been laid by the German destroyers Steinbrinck, Eckoldt and Ihn.)
