HMS Fortune (1935) DD  (23rd)

    
This the 23rd ship to carry the name HMS Fortune was an F Class, destroyer.

Built by John Brown on the Clyde, laid down 25-Jul-1933, launched 29-Aug-1934, and commissioned 27-Apr-1935.

Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935.

On completion formed the 6th Destroyer Flotilla with the Home Fleet, which was renumbered the 8th Flotilla May-1939.

Served with Force H at Gibraltar from mid-1940.

Went to the Eastern Fleet in the Indian Ocean Mar-1942, then returned to the UK Mid-1943.

Transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy 03-Jun-1943.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939, North Sea 1940 and Malta Convoys 1941-42.
