HMS Escort (1934) DD  (4th)

    
This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Escort was an E Class, destroyer.

Built by Scotts, laid down 30-Mar-1933, launched 29-Mar-1934, and commissioned 06-Nov-1934.

On completion formed the 5th Destroyer Flotilla with her sister ships.

Took part in the King George V Silver Jubilee Fleet Review 16-Jul-1935.

At the art of WW2 served in home waters. Took part in the Norwegian campaign, then to Gibraltar.

Torpedoed 08-Jul-1940 north of Cyprus, by the Italian submarine Marconi.

Foundered 11-Jul-1940 while under tow.

Won the Battle Honours: Atlantic 1939-40 and North Sea 1940.
