This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Despatch was a Cruizer Class, 18-gun, brig-sloop.

Built by King of Upnor, laid down Feb-1812, launched 07-Dec-1812.

Went to the Leeward Islands 28-Mar-1813 and took the American privateer Mary (5-gun) 07-Jul-1814. At the bombardment of Algiers 27-Aug-1816. Based at Plymouth Oct-1816.

Altered to a ship-sloop at Portsmouth Sep-1823 to Nov-1825.

Left for South America Mar-1826, returned to the UK 1830.

Broken up at Portsmouth Mar-1831.

Won the Battle Honour: San Sebastian 1813.
