This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Dauntless will be
the second Type
45, Daring Class, Air Defence Destroyer. Major sections were built by BAE and Vosper-Thorneycroft, then brought together and assembled at BAE Systems shipyard at Govan, Glasgow. Construction began 26-Aug-2004, launched 23-Jan-2007. Initial constructors sea trials completed 12-Dec-2008. Current projected in-service date is 2010.
