This the fifth ship to carry the name HMS Dauntless will be
the second Type
45, Daring Class, Air Defence Destroyer. Major sections were built by BAE and Vosper-Thorneycroft, then brought together and assembled at BAE Systems shipyard at Govan, Glasgow. Construction began 26-Aug-2004, launched 23-Jan-2007, completed Jun-2009 and commissioned 03-Jun-2010. Her first operational deployment was to the South Atlantic on 04-Apr-2012.
