HMS Anson (1942) BB  (7th)

    
This HMS Anson, the seventh to carry the name was a King George V Class battleship.

Built Swan Hunter Shipbuilders, laid down in Jul-1937, launched 24-Feb-1940 and completed in Jun-1942. She was originally named HMS Jellicoe, but renamed Feb-1940.

On joining the Home Fleet she was engaged mainly in operations in support of Russian convoys. In March-1945 was sent to the Far East Fleet and took part in the re-occupation of Singapore. Remained in the Far East until July-1946. returned to the UK for a short refit. Then took up training duties.

Scrapped 17-Dec-1957 at Faslane.

Won the Battle Honour: Arctic 1942-43.
