| Description |
The action took place off Vigo, Spain. HMS Bellona (74-guns) engaged and captured the French Courageux (74-guns). The battle lasted 39 minutes but British gunnery caused the French 240 dead and 110 wounded, with Bellona losing 6 killed and 28 wounded. Courageux also carried cargo valued at £320,000.
