Northumberland Class (1868) BB

This HMS Northumberland was completed as a class of one.

She was originally designed as a third Minotaur Class (1868) ship but was altered during construction.

Her gun deck was shortened to being effectively a central battery. Steam-powered steering was a feature at build.

The original rigging of five masts was reduced to three masts in 1875.
