HMS Shannon (1877) BB  (9th)

    
This the ninth ship to carry the name HMS Shannon was a single ship class of Ironclad battleship.

Built at Pembroke Dock, laid down Sep-1873, launched 11-Dec-1875 and completed in Sep-1877.

She spent her first year undergoing modifications and so did not really enter service until 1878. 

She went to the Pacific from 1879-81 and spent the remainder of her career either in Reserve or as a coastguard ship.

Sold 15-Dec-1899.
