This the first ship to carry the name HMS Newark was a second rate, 80-gun, ship-of-the-line.

Built by Frame of Hull, launched 03-Jun-1695, 157ft long, 42ft wide and of 1,217 tons builders measurement (bm).

Rebuilt at Chatham 1717 as 1,283 tons bm, then again at Chatham 1747 as 1,521 tons bm.

Broken up Jun-1787 at Chatham.

Won the Battle Honours: Velez Malaga 1704 and Lagos 1759.
