This the fourth ship to carry the name HMS Montagu was laid down in Nov-1899 and completed in Oct-1903.
Served in the Mediterranean Fleet 1903-05, then the Channel Fleet. She ran aground off Lundy Island on 30-May-1906. Salvage attempts were made but it was only possible to remove her guns; after which the salvage was abandoned.
