HMS Leeds (1940) DD  (1st)

    
This the only ship to carry the name HMS Leeds was a Town Class, destroyer. One of 50 sold to the Royal Navy under the destroyers for bases agreement.

Originally the USS Conner DD72, built by Cramp, laid down 16-Oct-1916, launched 21-Aug-1917, commissioned in the US Navy 12-Jan-1918, commissioned in the Royal Navy 23-Oct-1940 and renamed.

Refitted at Devonport 17-Nov-1940 to 02-Mar-1941, then worked as convoy escort on the East coast for her entire service.

Paid off at Grangemouth 10-Apr-1945.

Sold 04-Mar-1947 and broken up.

Won the Battle Honour: North Sea 1941-45.
