This the first ship to carry the name HMS Dido was a sixth rate, 28-gun, ship.

Built by Stewart & Hall of Sandgate, launched 27-Nov-1784, 120ft 6in long, 34ft wide and of 595 tons builders measurement.

Used for harbour service from 1804.

Sold 03-Apr-1817.

Won the Battle Honours: 'Minerve' 1795 and Egypt 1801.
