| Description |
The action took place about 180 miles west of Ushant at 48º 58'N 8º 4' W. About HMS Phoebe 1000hrs sighted a sail coming towards her and at 1130hrs began a chase. Eventually at 2100hrs the action began and at 2245hrs Nereide surrendered. Nereide suffered 20 killed and 53 wounded out of 330 aboard, and Phoebe lost 3 killed and 10 wounded out of 261 aboard.
